Volusia County, FL - April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) is asking members of the community to help victims of the traumatic crimes by providing donations to the Volusia Rape Crisis Center.
According to the VCSO, the Volusia Rape Crisis Center, 311 N. Orange Street, New Smyrna Beach, is collecting replacement clothing for adult victims of sexual assault. Often the clothing victims wear to a sexual assault examination is taken as evidence. The Rape Crisis Center provides replacement items for the victims to wear home.
What they need: new underwear, sports bras and scrubs or sweatpants, all sizes.
They could also use gift cards for purchasing other essentials like sanitary and personal hygiene products.
The items will be collected throughout April. Collection boxes can be found at all district offices throughout the county and at offices on the 4th floor of the county building in DeLand.
