VC Paramedic Resigns After Holding Nude "Blackmail" Photos of Employees

Volusia County, FL - A paramedic with Volusia County resigns after the county found out they had been holding nude photos of employees as "insurance" to protect themselves from getting in trouble.

According to the County, they first heard of the incident in late September of 2018. A paramedic who was going through an exit interview told the human resources manager that they had information regarding employee misconduct in Volusia Emergency Medical Services.

The paramedic told HR that they were aware that another paramedic, Amy Sherlock, had a collection of nude photos of VCEMS employees, and that he was only aware because Sherlock showed him the pictures.

That employee specifically remembered seeing nude photos of one Lieutenant within VCEMS.

He said most of the photos also appeared to be voluntary "selfies."

He advised Human Resources that another colleague of his had seen the pictures as well.

When interviewed by Human Resources, Sherlock told them that "at one point" she did have a collection of nude photos.

She told them that it was not a collection, but she was involved in a text message thread with three former male EMS employees, who posted nude pictures of other employees they had slept with or been involved with.

She described the thread as a "competition" between male employees.

When asked why she had the photos, she responded that it was "the thing to do."

However, an earlier interview from another employee stated that Sherlock told them that she had the pictures for "insurance" just in case she would ever need to blackmail someone to avoid trouble.

Sherlock sent an email on December 4th, 2018 to the interim director of Volusia County Public Protection, saying that she was submitting her two-week notice.

However, the director informed her that her resignation would be effective immediately and her two-week noticed would be waived.
