Daytona Beach, FL - A Volusia County grand jury has come back with an indictment against 18-year-old Kevin Stokes for a charge of first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Daemon Carn.
Stokes is also indicted on charges of discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and possession of a firearm by a delinquent. That charge is because Stokes was only 17 at the time of the shooting.
The incident took place on July 8. Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri said that shooting and a few others during that same time period were due to an argument between two groups over rap music and drugs.
Stokes was arrested by DBPD on September 16.
State Attorney R.J. Larizza said Stokes will be "held accountable for - and face the brutal consequences of - his criminal episode."
