Palm Coast, FL - An argument at Holland Memorial Park in Palm Coast yesterday evening (January 17) turned into a pushing match and then a stabbing.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office says a 15-year-old male was stabbed in the chest by 19-year-old Jared Douglas. Douglas is being held on a $25,000 bond on a charge of Aggravated Battery with Permanent Disfigurement. The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Orlando for treatment of his injuries, which are believed to be non-life-threatening.

According to the report, FCSO arrived at Holland Park at about 6:30 p.m. Numerous witnesses were still on the scene and described the suspect vehicle as a red BMW convertible. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing the surveillance cameras at the park, deputies identified the vehicle as belonging to Douglas.

Deputies and detectives headed to Douglas's listed address at 23 Blare Castle Drive and found the red BMW in the driveway. While they were setting up a perimeter, several people ran out of the house. They were secured and determined to be Douglas along with two others that were with him at the park.

The investigation found that the victim and a juvenile female, said by another witness to be dating Douglas, had been in an ongoing argument over Snapchat. They were both at the park, still arguing over Snapchat when the victim walked up to the female and pushed her. Douglas pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the victim in the chest. Witnesses broke up the fight and the three suspects left in the red BMW.

“This situation should have never escalated to the point of a juvenile needing to be airlifted to the hospital for a stab wound over a social media fight! Really?” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Thankfully this was an isolated incident and our team did a great job in quickly pulling resources, videos, and interviewing witnesses to track down the suspects and take the defendant into custody. We hope the victim has a speedy recovery. Parents, talk to your kids and teach them that violence is not a solution to an argument.”
