Bernard Weiner was a founder of the Holocaust Museum and Study Center, in Spring Valley, New York and created the curriculum for teaching the Holocaust in New York as well. Jaksot has written books, such as The Architecture of Oppression: The SS, Forced Labor and the Nazi Monumental Building Economy and has devoted his research to understanding how Nazi Germany influenced art and architecture. He earned his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in the area of Art History.
