
Daytona Beach, FL - A stabbing victim is Baker Acted after refusing medical treatment for a life threatening injury as police search for the suspect.
Daytona Beach police say they responded to a house off of Lenox Avenue this past Saturday (January 26th) just after 10:30 a.m., with the reporting party saying someone was stabbed.
When police responded, one officer the found the stabbing victim face down in the grass at First Presbyterian Church just off of Grandview Avenue.
The officer that found the victim saw that he was bleeding profusely and had a three inch laceration on his upper back from the stabbing.
Not long after the victim was found, police made contact with the reporting party.
She told police that her and her boyfriend, the stabbing victim, were staying in the basement of a Lenox Avenue residence since about 3:30 that morning.
Around 10:30 that morning, she was awakened by her boyfriend, being accused that she was sleeping with another resident of that home.
The victim then punched the other man in the face and went upstairs.
Around 10 minutes later, she heard a disturbance upstairs and found her boyfriend bleeding from his back.
When asked who stabbed him, the victim replied that he didn't know. He would then leave the house and would eventually make ti to First Presbyterian Church.
She also told police that he had recently smoked crystal meth.
The stabbing victim was treated by Daytona Beach Fire Department and would be transported to Halifax Health Medical Center.
During his transport, the victim attempted to leave the ambulance and refuse treatment for his life threatening injury.
As a result, DBPD placed him into protective custody via the Baker Act.
The victim also told police that he was stabbed somewhere on the beach by an unknown person due to his gang affiliation.
He told police he would like to prosecute if a suspect is found.
The physician that took care of the victim said his injuries were significant and he had to be sedated and intubated.
The man punched by the victim also told police that he wanted no involvement with the incident, and both the victim's girlfriend and him said they do not know who attacked him.
The residence off of Lenox was searched for a crime scene. Only minimal blood was found near the front of this house.
So far a suspect and a weapon hasn't been located.
