ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - The remains of a teenage girl who went missing in Daytona Beach in 2004 are believed to have been found, according to a release Wednesday by the Volusia Sheriff's Office. Autumn Lane McClure would have been missing for 20 years this May, but her family may now have reached much-needed closure.

The remains being attributed to McClure were discovered on Wednesday in Ormond Beach, where a suspected human burial site was being excavated. The site was identified by the continued investigation into McClure's disappearance according to the VSO.

Recent interviews and re-interviews of friends and possible witnesses to McClure's disappearance led investigators to the place where the remains were found. McClure was last seen on May 10th, 2004 being dropped off by her boyfriend at the Volusia Mall on International Speedway Blvd in Daytona Beach.

It's not clear as of this latest release whether the boyfriend or anyone else are suspects in a criminal case, or whether foul play is necessarily considered to be her cause of death. A press conference from Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood on Thursday is expected to shed more light on the discovery.
