Telluride, CO - A Sheriff's Office out in Colorado confirms the deaths of a Port Orange couple that recently eloped to Telluride for a small wedding.
On Monday (October 5th) the San Miguel Sheriff's Office (SMSO) announced that rescue operations were underway following reports of a small plane that had crashed east of Telluride. Unfortunately, an hour after announcing the search, SMSO confirmed that both occupants were deceased.
The crash victims were later identified as 30-year-old Costas John Sivyllis and 33-year-old Lindsey Vogelaar, both of Port Orange. According to SMSO, both Sivyllis and Vogelaar eloped to Telluride for a small wedding and an "adventure-filled honeymoon" that the couple was documenting online for their friends and family.
The couple reportedly departed from Telluride Airport around 12:45 Monday afternoon in a Beechcraft Bonanza, bound for Florida with a possible stop in Oklahoma for fuel. However, the plane crashed around 10 to 15 minutes after takeoff.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is now handling the investigation.
