Deltona, FL - A 16-year-old student at Deltona's Pine Ridge High School gets arrested for threatening to kill a fellow student and all of his friends at school with a gun.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office took the male teenager - whom WNDB is not naming - into custody just after midnight today (November 1st) on a felony charge of threatening to discharge a destructive device.

VCSO was initially notified of the threat during the afternoon of Halloween by the step-father of another Pine Ridge High School student who had left a tip through the FortifyFL phone application.

According to the arrest report, detectives spoke to three Pine Ridge HS students soon after the tip came in, two of whom told deputies they heard the 16-year-old make those threats during two separate phone calls. The other told VCSO he didn't hear those threats directly but believed them based on the "overall behavior" he saw recently from the 16-year-old.

One of those boys - a 15-year-old - claimed it all stemmed from a school fight he had with the 16-year-old around two weeks ago, but it wasn't until around 3:30 p.m. yesterday (October 31st) when the 16-year-old called the 15-year-old's cell phone and made the threats.

Per the report, the 16-year-old told the 15-year-old that "my dad is a police officer, he has guns, and I'm going to go get one and bring it to school tomorrow and I'm going to kill you and all of your friends".

He also reportedly told one of the other boys during a separate call that he was going to "teach them a lesson", referencing the 15-year-old and another boy.

When questioned by VCSO, the 16-year-old admitted to making the threats but said he didn't mean it and that "he knows he says things sometimes that he should not say", according to the report.

The 16-year-old's father told deputies he doesn't own or possess any firearms.

VCSO turned the boy over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
