UPDATE (12-22-18): The shooter in an incident that took place Friday morning in Palm Coast's B section is in custody. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office identifies him as 21-year-old
Maurice Tyrone Moultrie, also of Palm Coast.
The investigation revealed that Moultrie was meeting the victim, 18-year-old
Kevont'e Lamar Gillislee, to purchase marijuana. Gillislee was able to identify the shooter and provided a description of his vehicle to deputies before being transported to the hospital.
“Our team did a great job in locating the suspect quickly and taking him into custody,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “A drug deal gone wrong leads to a young man getting shot. Drugs, guns and violence are a recipe for disaster and a hazard of being a drug dealer.”
Palm Coast, FL - A Palm Coast teen is recovering after being injured in a drive-by shooting in the B-section this morning (Dec. 21, 2018). The Flagler County Sheriff's Office reports that the incident took place around 10 a.m. outside a home located at 36 Bresler Lane.
Sheriff's Office spokesperson Brittany Kershaw said the 18-year-old man was wounded on the right side of his body. He was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center. Sheriff Rick Staly said the man is in stable condition.
Kershaw stated that the area around the home has been secured and there is no threat to the public. A description of the vehicle involved came from 9-1-1 calls and helped deputies track down the alleged vehicle in which the suspects were riding. Kershaw couldn't say how many suspects were in the vehicle but did say they are in the process of being questioned.
At this time, investigators think the victim was visiting friends at the home on Bressler Lane and that he knew the suspected shooters. Kershaw said the relationship between the suspects and the victim is not yet clear.
Sheriff Staly credited his deputies for their hard work in catching the suspects so quickly.
