Ormond Beach, FL - A 53-year-old man is charged with aggravated assault on a person 65 or older, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence.  Ormond Beach Police responded to a call from Douglas Fisher's 81-year-old stepfather on New Years Day, reporting that Fisher was acting erratically and had verbally threatened him and raised his clenched fists as if to threaten him. When police arrived at the residence, Fisher was leaving on his bicycle.  Officers looked for Fisher and saw him near the intersection of Granada Blvd and Williamson Blvd, near the entrance to the Wal-Mart.  Emergency lights were activated but Fisher attempted to elude the officers, riding into the parking lot and then changing directions.  He then got off the bike and tried to get away on foot.  Officers gave chase and were able to catch him. Fisher is reported to have physically struggled with officers and struck one of them in the head with a closed fist.  Officers had to use a few Tasers because Fisher had on multiple layers of clothing.  He was eventually subdued and taken to the Volusia County Jail.  A criminal history check by police found that Fisher has multiple misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence battery.  He remains in VCJ on a $6,000 bond.
