Volusia County, FL - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Melbourne says that Florida continues to be drier than usual, especially from Central to South Florida and Volusia County is about 3 degrees above normal temperatures for this time of year.
According Meteorologist Will Ulrich with the NWS in Melbourne, the dry season in Florida is the period between November and April. Although April's above normal temperatures have not set any records, they are still significantly above average. Mid to late May is typically when Florida enters the rainy, wet season.
"We do have a couple of opportunities for precipitation in the next 4-5 days," said Ulrich. " It's not going to be a drought buster by any means. All of Volusia County is still in D-1 drought conditions, which we consider a moderate drought, so by no means are we out of the woods."
Ulrich says that this week, Monday and Tuesday, we can expect showers in Florida to transition south. On Wednesday and Thursday conditions will continue to be dry and an increase chanced of rain will return on Thursday and Friday.
