Multiple Public Service Agencies To Escort Family Of Fallen FDNY Firefighter

New Smyrna Beach, FL - Multiple public service agencies will be escorting the family of fallen New York firefighter Billy Tolley home from Daytona Beach International Airport (DBIA) after their trip for funeral services in New York this week.

Plans for the escort home on Friday, April 28, include a water salute over the arriving jet by Volusia County Fire Service Station 17. The flight is arriving at 11:43 PM. Jet Blue has been notified and DBIA is aware of the escort.

The escort route is as follows:

  • Midway to Williamson
  • Williamson all the way to Pioneer Trail
  • Pioneer Trail to Hillock
  • Hillock to Fairway Drive

On Monday, April 24, the City of New Smyrna Beach Fire Department, along with the multiple agencies listed below, had the honor of assisting with the escort of Mr. William Tolley and family to DBIA. Mr. Tolley's son, Billy, tragically died at a fire in New York City. Billy was a 14-year veteran with the FDNY, and senior firefighter on Ladder 135. Billy was accessing a roof when the tower bucket suddenly shifted causing him to fall 5 stories. Billy leaves behind a wife and 8-year-old daughter.
