DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A 53-year-old man was stabbed and robbed while riding a Votran bus in Daytona Beach, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department. The victim was treated for his injuries and police have a suspect in custody.

The incident reportedly happened at around 2:50 pm on Tuesday when the bus was driving on International Speedway Blvd. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Tacaie Harris, is said to have stabbed the victim with a steak knife and taken his backpack. He also reportedly tried to take the victim's phone but was apparently not successful.

There were reportedly witnesses to the crime on the bus, including the driver. When the bus pulled over after the scuffle, Harris is said to have walked away from the area while the victim tried to go after him to recover his belongings. The driver said he saw the victim bleeding and had him stay on the bus while emergency personnel made their way to the scene.

According to police, surveillance footage of the stabbing shows the victim focused on his phone while Harris approached and brandished the knife. The victim was stabbed multiple times in the back of his neck and a fight ensued. The footage also is said to depict Harris trying to re-enter the bus after leaving it, for reasons unknown.

Harris is now in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail, on charges of attempted felony murder and armed robbery. He's been kept there since his arrest on Tuesday, and was denied bond.
