Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) is warning residents to beware of a man dressed as a firefighter soliciting in neighborhoods.
According to the DBPD, a Daytona Beach resident in the Grand Preserve community advised them that a man dressed as a firefighter was soliciting in her neighborhood for money for a "firefighter-related charity."
DBPD officials advise residents to not open the door. He's a fake. Daytona Beach firefighters do not solicit door-to-door.
The DBPD also warns that springtime is the best time for door-to-door solicitations from individuals who may not have the best intentions.
Not all solicitors are involved in illegal activity, but some can be aggressive and use their solicitation act to commit other crimes, say DBPD officials.
