Man Charged with Sexual Battery With Special Circumstances Found Guilty

Daytona Beach, FL - The three-man, three-woman jury in the trial of Nicholas Mayville deliberated for about two hours before coming back with a guilty verdict on a felony count of sexual battery with special circumstances and two counts of false imprisonment. Mayville was charged in the rape of a woman he met at Razzle's on Seabreeze Boulevard in Daytona Beach in January 2020.

Jury Trial Underway For Man Charged With Kidnapping, Sexual Battery

Mayville has been in the Volusia County Jail since he was arrested on the charges on February 13, 2020, a couple of weeks after the crime, meaning he's served 547 days. He is facing a potential maximum sentence of 40 years in a Florida State Prison Facility at a sentencing hearing to be set.

Mayville has three prior felony convictions.

Assistant State Attorney Ashley Terwilleger, of the State Attorney’s Career Criminal Unit, prosecuted the case, along with Assistant State Attorney Emily Frazier. Circuit Judge Matthew Foxman presided over the trial and will pronounce sentence.
