Daytona Beach, FL - A 41-year-old man known as 'Pooh Bear' was arrested at 12:31 PM Tuesday for running a narcotics trafficking operation out of adjoining businesses operating as a car wash and snack shop in Daytona Beach.
Kevin Stokes of Daytona Beach is listed as the tenant of the location at 822 Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. According to the arrest report, the location is a well-known narcotics spot to the Daytona Beach Police Department, and there are frequent narcotics complaints about the location. Stokes is also a well-known subject to police.
On two separate dates, March 8 and June 2, the Daytona Beach Police Department served a search warrant and found large amounts of narcotics and a poker table with currency on it at the business. There were no legal products for sale or cash registers.
Stokes was not at the business at the time of the March 8 search, but he was present during the search on June 2 and signed a consent to search. He even admitted to smoking marijuana and gambling before deputies arrived.
Between the search on March 8 and the search on June 2, 28 subjects were contacted at the business by police, including Stokes. Twenty-six of those people have prior drug arrests. Stokes has eight prior drug charges. All of the subjects contacted at the business have a combined total of 224 prior drug charges.
There was a long list of narcotics, paraphernalia, even a semiautomatic pistol located during the two searches. The narcotics found by deputies included marijuana, cocaine, and Fentanyl, which is extremely lethal.
Stokes was ultimately arrested at the business and admitted post-Miranda that he controls the business traffic and knew people sold narcotics on the property.
