Light The Way, Walk With Me - Human Trafficking Awareness Walk

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Tomorrow is Human Trafficking Awareness Day and local law enforcement is asking the public to walk over a bridge to bring awareness to the issue.

The events begin at 9 a.m. In Daytona Beach, it's the International Speedway Bridge. In West Volusia County, it's the US 17/92 bridge starting on the DeBary side. In Flagler County, people are asked to meet at Wadsworth Park to walk over the SR 100 bridge in Flagler Beach

According to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, there's never a bad time to educate yourself on what human trafficking looks like.

Tammy Worden, a human trafficking victims advocate for the Daytona Beach Police Department and the State Attorney's Office, said there will be several agencies at City Island Park handing out information on the signs of human trafficking and answering questions.

After the bridge walk is finished, Worden said that Kingdom Family Church will hold a family community awareness event directly after.
