Hurricane Matthew Crashes Local October Condo Sales

Daytona Beach, FL-Hurricane Matthew crashed the party here when it came to October sales of condos in the Daytona Beach area market. New figures from the Daytona Beach MLS show the number of condos sold was down more than 23% compared to October 2015. The bright spot in the month was median sales prices which were up slightly, year over year. Those prices were up by almost 12%. 86 condos sold in the local market last month at a median sales price of $208,200. Ron Wysocarski who heads the Wyse Home Team at Keller Williams in Port Orange says inventory levels were down by more than 11% last month compared to a year ago at the same time. Wysocarski says the effects of Hurricane Matthew lasted for weeks, not days, as out-of-town buyers stayed away as the hurricane threatened and then in the days after the storm when the cleanup was going on. The highest priced condo sold last month went for $788,000 at the Kingston Tower in Daytona Beach Shores. 2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
