Bunnell, FL - A homeowner a thousand miles away catches two teenage burglars in the act.

On Tuesday (February 26th), the Flagler County Sheriff's office got a call in reference to a burglary on Oleander Drive in Bunnell.

The homeowner told FCSO that he was watching his home be burglarized live from Ohio, via cameras he had installed in and around his home.

He further stated that while he watched the burglaries, he could see the suspects broke a window to get in and seemed to have fled once the alarm went off.

Bikes FCSO found behind the home

FCSO responded and established a perimeter as they looked for the suspects. While they searched the area, deputies found a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old walking nearby. They are not being named by WNDB per our news policy.

Both teens matched the description given to deputies, so they were detained for questioning.

Later on, the homeowner provided FCSO with images from his cameras of the suspects, allowing deputies to positively identify the teens and place them at the scene of the burglary.

When questioned, the teens told deputies they were riding their bikes when they saw the home. They hid their bikes behind the wood fence before entering through a bathroom window.

"This is a great example of how modern technology can be used to immediately report a crime in progress," said Sheriff Rick Staly. "(The homeowner) took his home security into his own hands and thanks to his security system and quick response from our deputies these juveniles were quickly arrested and processed."

The teens were both charged with felony burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. They were processed and held at Flagler County Jail until the Florida Department of Justice directed both to be released to their parents.
