Holly Hill PD: Elderly Woman Killed In U.S. 1 Crash

Posted

UPDATE (01-30-19): Police have identified the woman who died as 81-year-old Alicia Fauci of Ormond Beach.

According to the crash report, the driver of a 2006 silver Ford F-150 was facing west on Flomich when he tried to turn onto northbound U.S. 1, hitting Fauci as she tried to go south through the crosswalk.

The report notes that the F-150 was stopped for a red light at the intersection when the 31-year-old Holly Hill man behind the wheel attempted to make an “improper” right turn at around 10 miles an hour and struck Fauci.

Police at the scene say she suffered a severe head injury and was pronounced dead around 30 minutes later at Halifax Health Medical Center.

Per the report, the driver admitted to HHPD that he didn’t see Fauci in the sidewalk when he made the turn.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor, according to police. Charges have not been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
