Bunnell, FL - An attempted traffic stop on a driver traveling at high speed on U.S. 1 Wednesday (September 25) morning ends with the arrest of a fugitive from Wisconsin. Flagler County sheriff's deputies say 24-year-old Michael Anthony Ross was observed driving at an estimated 80 mph just before 11:30 a.m.

You can see the arrest video here.

Deputies hit the lights and sirens. Ross slowed down as though he was going to stop, then accelerated. Ross drove away, changing lanes recklessly, driving at over 100 mph and running the red light on U.S. 1 at S.R. 100. He lost control of the car and crashed into a tree near Palm Avenue.

As deputies were pulling up to the scene of the accident, Ross got out of the car and started to run away. Despite deputies command to stop, he kept going. Eventually, a deputy secured Ross by utilizing his Dart Firing Stun Gun.

Once he was secured, Ross complained of neck pain. He was alert and conscious and did not appear to have any serious injuries. Ross was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries. He was medically cleared and taken to the Flagler County Jail.

Ross initially refused to give deputies his name but by contacting the hospital and using something called a Rapid Identification device, they were able to confirm his identity. They found an out-of-state active warrant, in reference to VOP Armed Robbery.

One deputy charged Ross with leaving the scene of an accident with injury to himself. Another deputy charged him with fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer without violence and driving without a license. His bond is set at $6,000.
