Flagler County, FL - The Florida Department of Financial Services, in partnership with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO), is hosting free financial safety workshops for seniors, their families and caregivers in Palm Coast and Bunnell.

The "Be Scam Alert" workshops will teach attendees how to spot a scam, how scams work and the steps they can take to protect themselves.

The 1st workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 2, from 10-11:30 AM, at Palm Coast City Hall, 160 Lake Ave., Palm Coast.

The 2nd workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 3, from 10-11:30 AM, at the Sheriff's Operations Center, 901 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell.

The workshops are hosted as part of Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater's "On Guard for Seniors" initiative to educate seniors about financial topics such as annuities, identity theft, reverse mortgages and long-term insurance.

"We appreciate CFO Atwater's office bringing this seminar to our residents," said Sheriff Rick Staly. "Working together allows us to teach residents how to protect themselves and not become a victim of crime."
