Former Cop Arrested Two Weeks After Release From Prison

Bunnell, FL - One former Bunnell officer is back behind bars only two weeks after his release.

Back in 2014, 34-year-old Michael Stavris was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, charged with child exploitation and criminal use of personal identification information.

Stavris made a plea deal and on July 26th, 2016, he was sentenced to three years in prison with five years of probation. He release came on February 11th, 2019.

A condition of Stavris' probation says that he cannot create or keep an online social media account. However, on February 15th, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office got a report that he possibly made a Facebook account under a fake name.

Yesterday (February 26th), FCSO, along with Stavris' probation officer, conducted a check on Stavris. After a search of his personal cell phone, FCSO found that his phone was used to make a Facebook account, one that he uploaded photos to.

"It's very alarming that this individual would violate his probation so quickly after being released from prison," Sheriff Rick Staly said. "He has apparently not learned his lesson and just 15 days after being released from prison he's back in jail."

Stavris was booked into the Flagler County Jail where he's being held without bond.

Because Stavris was a law enforcement officer, his mugshot is not publicly available.
