Florida Holiday Shopping Forecast Tops National Trend
Posted
Daytona Beach, FL- With the holiday shopping season underway, the Florida Retail Federation is forecasting a sizeable bump in holiday spending in the state. The forecast predicts about a 4% increase in Florida spending compared to last year and that's higher than the national forecast for spending according to the Florida Retail Federation's James Miller.
National spending forecasts are averaging a 3 or 3 1/2% increase this year over last.
Miller says an eight-year low in unemployment is one reason for the bullish spending forecast in Florida. Miller adds solid consumer confidence and a robust housing market are also behind the spending spike.
