Daytona Beach, FL - A man who's been on the run for over a month finally ends up in the hands of law enforcement.

27-year-old De'Vantell Cooper was taken into custody earlier today (February 19th) after he reportedly fired into an open vehicle back in January.

The original incident happened back on January 12th in southern Flagler County and came to the attention of law enforcement after a witness reported it.

During the investigation, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office found out that Cooper may have been staying at an apartment in Daytona Beach. FCSO, the Daytona Beach Police Department SWAT team and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement found Cooper at that same apartment and took him into custody.

“Thankfully this dangerous offender is off the streets and behind bars where he belongs,” Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said following the arrest. “We appreciate our partnership with the FDLE and the DBPD and their assistance in this arrest."

Cooper was booked at Volusia County Jail, where he will wait for extradition to Flagler.
