Jim Doggett, a deputy with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, has tragically passed away after losing his battle with cancer, according to a statement from the FCSO on Wednesday. Doggett was 61 years old.
In addition to his service with the FCSO, Doggett’s life was in part defined by a distinguished career in several law enforcement agencies. He joined the FCSO in 2021, but before that he wore the badge for the Port Orange Police Department, Flagler Beach Police Department, Bunnell Police Department, Ormond Beach Police Department, and the Daytona State College School of Emergency Services.
“Deputy Jim Doggett faithfully served the Flagler/Volusia area for nearly 40 years and he will be greatly missed,” said Sheriff Rick Staly of Doggett’s passing. “Our hearts go out to his family and friends — especially his son, Sean, who followed in his father’s footsteps as a Deputy Sheriff here at FCSO. I ask the community to join me in keeping his family and his brothers and sisters at FCSO in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
A service to celebrate Doggett’s life was held on Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
