Daytona Beach, FL - Construction on the First Step Shelter continues but Executive Director Mark Geallis has decided to step down.
Geallis submitted a letter of resignation, giving 90 days notice, to Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry last week, on April 24th. In the letter, Geallis states that he wants to help in the transition through his final day of work on July 23, 2019.
The resignation comes after more than five years time and more than one failed attempt to make the homeless shelter a reality for Daytona Beach.
Construction on the First Step Shelter is scheduled for completion in mid to late fall of 2019.
