UPDATE: FHP has identified the pedestrian killed in the accident as 72-year-old Robert Jacobs of DeLand. The investigation is ongoing.
DeLand, FL - State troopers are investigating an early morning incident that ended the life of a pedestrian.
Florida Highway Patrol says it happened just before 4:30 this morning (May 1st).
They report that a 1997 Buick Century was travelling eastbound on US-92, just a quarter-mile east of Stone Street while a pedestrian was walking in the eastbound lane of US-92.
The driver said they were unable to see the pedestrian until it was too late.
The incident remains under investigation. FHP has not stated if they will pursue criminal charges in this case or not.
