February Unemployment Rates Drop

Daytona Beach, FL - Two months into the year and unemployment rates drop in Volusia and Flagler County.

The data from CareerSource Flagler Volusia shows that the combined unemployment rate for both Volusia and Flagler (not seasonally adjusted) dropped from 3.7% the year prior to 3.4%.

Independently, Volusia reported 3.3% for unemployment with Flagler at 3.6%, just 0.3% higher than Volusia County.

Other findings show that the labor force was 305,455, which is up 4,800 (1.6%) over the year. There were 10,374 unemployed residents in the region.

In February of this year, nonagricultural employment in the Deltona-Daytona Beach-Ormond Beach MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) was 208,900,  an increase of 1,800 jobs – or roughly 1% – over the year.

Mining, logging and construction jobs as well as professional and business services jobs added about 500 workers, while financial activities jobs and the leisure
and hospitality industry added around 400 each.

Manufacturing and information jobs lost about 300 and 200 workers, respectively.
