Flagler County, FL - The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) is launching its 4th of July Choose Your Ride; Don't Drink and Drive campaign to remind those celebrating never to drive impaired.
Beginning on Friday, June 30, the FCSO will be out in greater numbers than usual in Palm Coast, Bunnell and Flagler Beach. More bike, motorcycle and patrol units will be on the lookout for impaired drivers, and they will increase DUI enforcement until the campaign ends after July 4th.
Flagler Beach's annual Fabulous 4th of July celebration will begin with a parade at 10 AM with activities leading up to the 9 PM fireworks show. Free "Park and Ride" shuttles will be offered by Palm Coast Transportation Services all day to and from Flagler Square and Veteran's Park. The shuttle will limit the traffic congestion around the Flagler Beach Bridge and will protect sand dunes from beach parking.
To prevent Boating Under the Influence (BUI), FCSO marine units will be working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and their safe boating campaign, "Operation Dry Water."
The FCSO will also remind residents and visitors to make the right choice this holiday weekend by driving around their Sheriff's Taxi car. They ask that you plan your ride home ahead or call a friend, taxi or Uber before driving impaired because a taxi ride home costs less than a ride to jail.

“We had a great community response to the Memorial Day ‘Choose Your Ride’ awareness campaign with only four arrests and we’re hoping for no arrests this time,” says Flagler County Sheriff, Rick Staly. “Have a safe Fourth of July weekend and choose a safe ride home. Don’t endanger yourself or others by driving impaired but if you do you will have a one-way ride in our ‘taxi’ and you won’t like where it’s going.”
