Palm Coast, FL - He threatened to kill a teenage girl and her family if she told anyone about their sexual encounters.
That's what the Flagler County Sheriff's Office is saying about a 27-year-old Palm Coast man who's now facing five felony charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
Brandin M. Deolivera remains at the Flagler County Jail without bond this morning (January 2nd) following his booking on New Year's Eve.
More charges are possible against Deoliveira since the investigation is still active, per FCSO spokesperson Shannon Martin.
"The victim notified FCSO after Deoliveira threatened her and her family [that], if anyone found out about their sexual encounters, he would kill them all," Martin added. "At one point, Deoliveira showed the victim a firearm that he kept accessible, causing her to fear for her and her family's safety."
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly gave credit to the 16-year-old victim "for her bravery" in coming forward despite those threats.
“This guy took advantage of a child and thought he could scare her into hiding the truth," Staly added. "Fortunately, our detectives were able to build the case."
Investigators were able to verify some parts of the girl's story, including a gun which was found in Deoliveira's vehicle, per Martin.
According to the arrest report, Deoliveira and the girl had sex numerous times between last October and December at several beach approaches in Flagler County, including the ones at Marineland and Malacompra.
In at least one of those occasions, Deoliveira slapped her face and choked her to the point she couldn't breathe, per the report. It also noted that Deoliveira made the girl hold his gun at one point while making the threats to kill her and her family.
FCSO also uncovered over 600 text messages and over 20 telephone calls between Deoliveira and the girl, some of which had him sending her photos of his genitals, according to the report.
