DeLand, FL - Two Orlando men have bonded out on trespassing charges after one of them allegedly kept getting refills at a gas station soda fountain without paying for it.
30-year-old Samuel O. Williams (right) and 18-year-old Adam C. Williams (left) were arrested last Saturday morning at the Circle K gas station on 1591 South Woodland Boulevard, near the Victoria Square Theatres.
The DeLand Police Department says it all started just after 10 a.m. Saturday when officers responded to a call for help from the store.
"Employees inside reported that at least one subject had been serving himself sodas and re-filling his cup at the soda fountain dispensary and was not paying for them," stated a press release from DeLand PD earlier today. "At one point, an employee confronted him and asked him to leave the business. One of the individuals requested to pay for the drinks and the employee refused payment, instead asking him to leave the property and not return."
According to the same statement, both men were "loud and disruptive" while on the Circle K property and that officers had to trespass them because it was a legitimate request under state law.
The elder Williams refused to give police his real identity, including denying them the right to use a rapid fingerprint check system. That's when he was arrested, per the arrest report.
"All that was required by law was a correct identification and police could then issue the subject his trespass notice and he would be free to leave," stated the release.
Samuel left VCJ on $1,000 bond on misdemeanor charges of resisting an officer and giving false identity to law enforcement.
The younger Williams was also charged with resisting an officer for refusing to obey commands from officers at the scene, according to his arrest report. He left VCJ on $500 bond.
It's unclear at this time if both men are related.
