
Daytona Beach, FL - A new forecast track shows a slight shift to the north as Tropical Storm Dorian is expected to hit hurricane strength late this week and into the weekend.
The latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center now puts Dorian just south of Puerto Rico where it's moving to the northwest at 13 mph.
With this track, Dorian will pass over or near the US and British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico sometime later today, and near or to the east of the central and northwestern Bahamas over the weekend.

Maximum sustained winds are now sitting around 60 mph with higher gusts, with some strengthening expected later today. The NHC says that Dorian is forecast to be near hurricane strength when it approaches the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Although some weakening is possible after Dorian moves across Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, the storm is forecast to strengthen again later this week and weekend while passing near or to the east of the Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas.
The NHC is urging residents in the Bahamas and on the Florida east coast to monitor the storm and watch for updates.
