Sanford, FL - A 29-year-old DeLand woman is dead after the vehicle she was driving rear-ended another vehicle on Interstate 4, causing both to roll over.
That's the word from the Florida Highway Patrol following a crash around 12:20 this morning (March 28th) near Mile Marker 102 in Seminole County. That's just south of the Volusia County border.
Troopers have identified the woman who died at the scene as Kiley Fontaine.
The other driver involved - 20-year-old Tyrell Davis of Deltona - ended up at Central Florida Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
According to the FHP report, Fontaine was driving a 2018 Toyota 4-door vehicle in the left eastbound lane of I-4 behind Davis' 2006 Nissan 4-door when she failed to slow down.
The front right of the Toyota hit the left rear of the Nissan, at which point the Toyota overturned onto the center guardrail, per troopers. The Nissan also overturned, coming to rest on the right shoulder.
Two children in Fontaine's Toyota were taken to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, per FHP. It's unclear at this point how old they are and if they were wearing seat belts.
An autopsy is pending to determine if alcohol or drugs were in Fontaine's system at the time of the accident. The other driver did not show signs of impairment, according to troopers.
