DeLand, FL - The city of DeLand is set to kick-off the holiday season in style this weekend.

Chris Graham, the city's community information specialist, says the city will light their Christmas tree tomorrow night at 5:30 (December 6th) the Willie Bright Plaza outside City Hall.

After the tree lighting, Santa Claus is expected to make a visit and lead a convoy to help light Downtown DeLand's Christmas tree at Pioneer Park. Once that's done, he plans on sticking around to hear what children want for Christmas.

Downtown's festivities will also feature the sounds of carolers and downtown merchants will be open for people to take care of their Christmas shopping

The following day (December 7th), the Rotary Clubs of DeLand will host the 71st annual DeLand Christmas Parade, slated to start at 5:30 p.m. The route takes the parade from the start at Michigan Avenue towards the end at Hubbard Avenue.

For the parade, Woodland Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 3 p.m. from Plymouth to Beresford Avenue and will reopen after 8:30 p.m.
