DeLand Man Charged After Punching Girlfriend In The Face

DeLand, FL - Volusia Sheriff's deputies say 30-year-old Tajh Curry punched his girlfriend in the face early this morning. When she fled the area, someone following her and their two children shot at her car from a passenger vehicle.

The victim pulled into the driveway of a home in the 1200 block of South Delaware Avenue around 1:15 a.m. Curry approached the driver's side window and they started arguing. He punched the victim in the face with a closed fist. As she tried to roll up the window, Curry punched and broke it.

The woman said multiple shots were fired at her car as she was driving toward Orange City by someone following in a another vehicle. She stepped on the gas and hit the median at U.S. 17/92, damaging the vehicle. Deputies arrived to conduct a traffic stop. No injuries were reported by the woman and her two children, ages nine and four.

Curry was spotted at the home on South Delaware Avenue and arrested. He's charged with burglary with battery and simple battery and is being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail.

The case is open while detectives investigate the shooting aspect of the case.
