DeLand, FL - With temperatures forecast to fall into the 30s tonight in west Volusia County, the city of DeLand will have its cold-weather shelter open for the second day in a row.  City officials report that 43 people stayed at the Chisholm Community Center, 520 South Clara Avenue, last night.

With the same number or more expected tonight, the city is putting out a special request for the donation of warm blankets, pillowcases, hats, gloves, warm, thick socks, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, razors, washcloths, and hand towels. If you'd like to help out, please drop off the items at the Chisholm Center today between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
