
DeLand, FL - A project that was started to help alleviate the homelessness in DeLand is now a step closer to becoming reality.
Back in February of this year, the city agreed to approach county leaders in order to secure some help in funding that project, known as The Bridge.
"This is a vision that management here at the city has had since 2016," said Chris Graham, the Community Information Specialist for DeLand.

According to Graham, the Bridge will house 30 beds, a dining area, commercial kitchen, showers, offices and a few other amenities.

Construction of the facility was funded by Volusia County. Day to day funding will be handled by the cities in West Volusia, along with a few other churches and businesses, per a five year agreement they entered into with the city.
The groundbreaking is set to take place tomorrow morning (March 30th) at 9:30 at 421 South Palmetto Avenue.
Overflow parking will be available at the Intermodal Transportation Facility at 119 East Euclid Avenue, across from the Neighborhood Center.
