Decapitated Animals Found In DeBary Were Used In 'Ritual Cleansing'

DeBary, FLUpdate: According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, the decapitated animals found in a recycling bin in DeBary were used by a family as part of a ritual cleansing meant to cure a man of his schizophrenic thoughts.

A probation officer called 911 the day the bin was found and said she was doing a routine check on one of her supervised offenders and he was acting suicidal. She told deputies that the night before, on May 16, she checked on him and found him with blood on his head.

Deputies Baker Acted the man and VCSO is investigating.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a recycling bin filled with decapitated animals was found in DeBar on Wednesday.

The bin was found by a woman out on a bike ride on Toms Rd., just west of I-4 near Lake Monroe. Deputies found the blue recycling bin filled with beheaded animals including a goat, a turtle, and several birds.

VCSO's still investigating and no arrests have been made at this point.
