DEBARY, Fla. - One man has been arrested and charged in DeBary in relation to a shooting that injured another man. The incident occurred on Friday, not long after 6:00 pm.

According to the Volusia Sheriff's Office, 69-year-old John Baker confessed to deputies that he'd shot the 45-year-old victim in the leg with a shotgun. The victim was found bleeding out of his ankle on Cunningham Road, and was treated by a deputy-administered tourniquet before he could be hospitalized. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Police say the incident was triggered when the victim was searching for a purportedly stolen bike, and that he'd stumbled accidentally on an RV that was occupied by Baker at 9 Cunningham Road. Baker is said to have walked out with a shotgun, accusing the victim of vandalizing his property.

From there, the victim reportedly began fleeing Baker, and was shot in the process. Baker is said to have thought the victim was trying to break in to his RV, but deputies reported no evidence of said break-in. With this and other information being considered, Baker was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and arrested. He spent about eight hours in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
