UPDATE (04-23-19): Daytona Beach police have released surveillance footage showing what happened inside the pharmacy at the time of the shooting.

Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach Police had to shoot the suspect in an armed robbery this afternoon at the Walgreen's located at International Speedway Blvd. and Ridgewood Ave.
DBPD was alerted to the incident at about 12:48 p.m. Deputy Chief Jakari Young said that the armed suspect, identified as 41-year-old Louis Curler, jumped the pharmacy counter and demanded drugs. While holding pharmacy staff hostage, Young said he appeared to be shooting up drugs. Police told him to drop the gun..he refused and was shot in the back.
Curler was transported to the hospital. Young said his injuries were non-life-threatening. No employees, customers or officers were injured.
