DBPD Investigating Stabbing Death At Beachside Motel

UPDATE - January 20, 2020 -  Daytona Beach Police are confirming the arrest of 32-year-old Tarek Mneimne in relation to a stabbing death that happened last Saturday (January 18). He's charged with first-degree murder for the death of Jeffrey Schusky.  

Daytona Beach, FL - The death of a 34-year-old man at a beachside motel is under investigation by Daytona Beach Police detectives today (January 19). They say Jeffrey Schusky was found bleeding and on the ground at the motel manager's door at the Happy Holiday Motel around 11 p.m. yesterday. He had recently rented a room there.

Schusky was found to have a wound to his upper left abdomen. Two officers and paramedics arrived within minutes to find him lying on the ground, unresponsive.  They also found a knife on the ground. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

First responders say it's unclear what caused the wound or if it contributed to his death. The Volusia County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy today to determine the exact cause of death.
