The Daytona Beach Police Department announced on Tuesday that they'd started an investigation into what was being reported as a non-fatal shooting at a hotel in Daytona Beach. Few details have been released as of Wednesday.
The incident occurred at the Baymont Hotel, located at 2725 W Int'l Speedway Blvd. The hotel is adjacent to the Wing House restaurant just east of the I-95 off-ramp at Int'l Speedway Blvd, just a few hundred yards from Daytona International Speedway.
As of Wednesday morning, the DBPD has announced that a suspect has been taken into custody, but they did not name who the suspect was for reasons unclear upon contacting the agency. They did say they believed the victim and suspect knew one another, and that the victim is expected to fully recover from their injuries.
A public record request has been filed to further clarify the identity of the shooter in the wake of the absence of clarification from the DBPD.
