Daytona's Original First Turn, one of the most popular restaurants in Port Orange, will be closing in the coming days according to an announcement from the business's owners. Shane Snipes and Janet Brown McDermott posted to Facebook on Wednesday that they'd be kicking off a final ten-day slate of events at the business before closing the doors for good. The closure will bring to an end a 40-year reign for First Turn.
"With heavy hearts we announce we will be closing this chapter of many lives," the post said. "Jan and I spoke with our staff last night and agreed it's just [too] much to continue. That being said...we will be open and start our 10-Day count down today. Please stop in and say goodbye to the staff and take many pictures."
In the comment section, ripe with disappointed patrons and locals who'd visited First Turn over the years, Snipes claimed that the property was being sold for $2.4 million. Data from the Volusia County Property Appraiser shows the property owner as being KMTM Enterprises, LLC., a New Smyrna Beach-based company registered to Kurt and Misty Jones.
A schedule of final events before the closure was posted by Snipes to celebrate the business one last time. That schedule is as follows, per Snipes' post.
