Daytona Beach Prepping for 10th Year of Jet Ski Racing

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The P1 AquaX USA jet ski racing series will be making its annual stop in Daytona this month, marking the tenth year they've done so since the series' inception. The competition will take place in the Atlantic Ocean just off of the world's most famous beach.

Daytona Beach has been a stop on the P1 AquaX tour every year now since the inaugural event in 2013. This year, the jet skis will be out on the weekend of August 18th-20th in the waters across from the Hard Rock Hotel on A1A.

“Motorsports has a storied history on the World’s Most Famous Beach,” said Brandon Little, Sports Business Development Manager for the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau in a statement sent out to local media.. “We’re looking forward to witnessing another chapter of racing with P1 AquaX. The competition on the ocean should be fierce and we hope that the racers and all attendees enjoy the many attractions and activities the Daytona Beach area has to offer during their visit.”

Little's racing connection is certainly pertinent this month: the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series will be racing down the street at Daytona International Speedway the following weekend.

“It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago, P1 AquaX USA all began on Daytona Beach,” added Michelle Petro, P1 USA Championship Manager. “It started with only seven competitors showing up to race a new endurance format. That year the series grew tremendously, doubling in numbers in each round. This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary back on the beach where it all started."
