Daytona May Approve Grant For Brown & Brown Insurance & New Main St. Tattoo Shop

Daytona Beach, FL - At its Wednesday meeting, The Daytona Beach City Commission could approve a new tattoo shop on Main St. and a multi-million dollar grant agreement bringing Brown & Brown Insurance Company to Daytona. The Beachside Redevelopment Board wants the Commission to rezone the land at 514 Main St. to allow Victory Tattoo to open up there. Under the rules of the provision, the tattoo shop would need to be open at least 300 days a year and operate at least six hours a day. The provision does allow for minor modifications to these rules if the business can prove "demonstrable hardship." Victory Tattoo is owned by Robert and Jen Ellis of Daytona Beach. They currently own a store in Ormond Beach and are poised to open up the new shop on Main St. just in time for Bike Week if they get a "yes" vote from the City. Victory Tattoo will also include a tattoo museum featuring historical photos and artwork. Another item on the City's agenda is a vote on a grant agreement with Brown & Brown Insurance. The measure would allow Brown & Brown to relocate approximately 450 new jobs to Daytona Beach and construct a new 175,000 square foot, ten-story office building on Beach St., according to City records. The move is ultimately expected to bring at least 600 new high-paying jobs to Daytona Beach. Under the grant agreement, the City would contribute $1,085,000 for the relocation of staff, and $4.5 million for infrastructure improvements. Volusia County would also chip in $4.5 million for infrastructure and another $900,000 that the County has already approved for tax credits. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2017.
