Daytona Beach, FL - The health departments of Volusia and Flagler want you to fill out a survey that could help address health needs across both counties.
Holly Smith - a spokesperson with the Volusia County Department of Health - says it's vital that as many people as possible who live in both counties take a few minutes to do the survey, which you can find by clicking here.
"We do this every three years," Smith added. "It helps us to put together a community needs assessment."
The department usually receives thousands of these surveys once they're made public, per Smith.
Data from the survey - which is available in English and Spanish - help the local health departments figure out their most chronic issues and come up with a plan to improve the overall quality of life.
Other community partners - notably local hospitals and county governments - also benefit from that data, according to Gretchen Smith, a spokesperson with the Flagler County Department of Health.
"Results of the survey provide the foundation of Community Health Needs Assessments, which are a collection of data used to inform communities and develop goals to improve health outcomes," Smith noted. "Once the assessments are complete, they will be used to create Community Health Improvement Plans for both Volusia and Flagler counties."
For those who don't want to fill a survey online, paper copies are available through your local county health department until the survey ends February 28th.
