
DeLand, FL - In honor of Earth Day, the City of DeLand will have its annual tree giveaway April 22.
On Saturday, April 22, from 8 to 11 AM, city staff and volunteers will hand out trees at the city's Public Works facility, 1102 S. Garfield Ave. Those wanting trees are asked to enter the complex from Amelia Ave.
The event is sponsored in part by the DeLand Breakfast Rotary Club, which also provides assistance during the event.
Each residence will be limited to 3 trees and the giveaway is limited to residents within the DeLand Utility Service Area. People should have proof of residence available, as well as a completed giveaway form, which can be found at the City of DeLand website here.
If picking up trees for another person, please bring a written request and the other person's proof of residence.
There is a limit of 6 trees per vehicle.
Species available this year include: American Elm, Bald Cypress, Live Oak, Loquat, Persimmon, Post Oak, Red Maple, Sassafras, Shumard Oak, Sweetgum, Wild Olive, Winged Elm and Yellow Poplar. Some selection of trees are limited and subject to change.
