Port Orange, FL - The Volusia County Canvassing Board met Friday morning and officially confirmed the results of Port Orange's special election.

According to a report from the board, Jonathan Foley, who won Tuesday's (April 13) special election, had 669 more votes than his opponent, Marcey Ann Kinney. Foley had 4,129 votes—or 54.41 percent of the total vote—while Kinney had 3,460 votes—45.59 percent.

Port Orange's special election came after former District 1 council member Dr. Marilyn Ford resigned in December 2020, stating that she was relocating. A month later, Foley was selected by the city council to serve as the interim District 1 council member following Ford's departure.

Foley originally ran against Ford during another special election in June 2019. In that race, Ford was elected to finish the nearly four-year term left by her husband, Bob Ford, who passed away from cancer in December 2018.

Ford additionally won that race following a run-off race against Leandro Barriero.
